FOOD BIOTECHNOLOGY
Food Biotechnology is considered as R&D proposals in various areas of food processing using biotechnological approaches. These included preparation of tropical fruit juices and food additives .Large scale production of various species of mushrooms and food from seaweeds and Xanthan gum and on areas of food safety. Development of low cost nutritious food supplements for malnourished is easy. A network programme on the modification of fats and oils using biotechnological approaches was initiated in this program . Apart from the above activities, some universities in different regions of the world were identified for strengthening of food biotechnology research and training.
